Sedbergh, Yorkshire Dales - April 2025
Cautley Spout, located near Sedbergh in the Howgill Fells of Cumbria, is England's tallest waterfall above ground, with a total drop of 198 meters (650 feet). The waterfall cascades in a series of broken falls down a steep cliff face at the head of a glacial valley leading from the high plateau known as The Calf. The surrounding landscape was shaped during the last Ice Age, with glaciers carving out the valley and leaving behind scree slopes and other geological features. Today, Cautley Spout is a popular destination for walkers and photographers, offering stunning views and a chance to experience the natural beauty of the Yorkshire Dales. The waterfall is accessible via a short walk from the Cross Keys Inn in Cautley, making it an ideal spot for a scenic outing.
